Posted more here. Looked like it was all job type threads. Which is part of what this blog is about. Standard of living type things. One post in at IT's.  Got some comments from MacDonald and IT. Which is always fun. Though of some sort of consumer reports post. It always did well when I did them with greenie.  Otherwise it's steady as she goes around here until 2023. When will decide what I want to do with this? ~seawolf.

Here are the 3 main factors causing toxic work cultures, according to research. Story by bnolan@insider.com (Beatrice Nolan) About one in nine Americans think their workplace is toxic, according to MIT research. Bad leadership, toxic social norms, and unclear job roles are driving toxic work cultures, per the research. "It's really an epidemic of toxicity," Charlie Sull, a researcher on the study, told Insider. Around 30 million, or one in nine, US workers experience their workplace as toxic, according to  research conducted by MIT Sloan School of Management. "It's really an epidemic of toxicity," Charlie Sull, one of the two researchers who conducted the study, told Insider. "This is something that affects tens of millions of people in America alone." According to his research, three main factors can create these toxic culture...

Black Friday

A place for working class Whites to discuss the op thoughtfully. Tell me what you did to shop for things today.  I'm in the market for a new printer. Thinking a LaserJet as this inkjet cartridges become too expensive and under perform in the number of prints I should get.  Kinda a consumer reports. Maybe I will make a consumer report thread called Black Friday every couple of weeks.  You know nothing like putting time into a blog that no one will ever see? ps: hope your holiday went well. ~seawolf

Welcome to the party pal.

Immigrant workers face wage theft and unsafe conditions as they rebuild Florida Story by Alicia Victoria Lozano • Oct 9 Hurricane Ian’s wrath had barely subsided in Florida when advertisements for day laborers started popping up on phones across New York through online platforms like Telegram and WhatsApp. The Spanish-language messages appeared to target recently arrived immigrants and asylum seekers who were desperate for work and had nowhere else to turn. Advocates said they are worried the migrants are becoming targets of fly-by-night businesses eager to exploit people for hard work and low wages. “This looks and smells like human trafficking,” said Ariadna Phillips, a New York community organizer with South Bronx Mutual Aid. “They recruit them with these very flashy photographs, saying, 'You're going to make a bunch of money' and 'We're going to give you this great apartment to live in,'...

Labor report stuff?

A place for working class Whites to discuss the op thoughtfully. Labor Department makes key change to jobs questionnaire to reflect key shift in white-collar work Story by Andrew Keshner • Oct 9 As the economy  added another 263,000 jobs  and the unemployment rate ticked down in September, the jobs report also showed that the share of workers telecommuting because of the pandemic continued edging down, falling to 5.2% from 6.5% the previous month. The statistic about COVID-19-induced work-from-home keeps telling the story how America’s white collar workers are ebbing away from fully remote work. It’s no flip back to pre-pandemic times, but  more employees are making it back into the office  at least a little bit more. But what’s also telling is the fact that the September jobs report marks the last time Bureau of Labor Statistics is presenting this data in its current version. There’s going to be changes in the questions because the queries in the...

More posts here and at IT's. Think I've settled into this place and pace now. At least for now. Been thinking. All that I've done here I'd be pushing top 25 status at the Disqus.com already? At least in treading? Heard from Bob and IT.  Good looking week here. Next week. No posts around the holiday. I'll post one here and one over at IT's. ~seawolf.

White men refusing to share power is a silver stake piercing the heart of American democracy | Opinion Story by AlterNet • Oct 9 Thursday’s post borrowed a concept from a new history by Jeremi Suri called  Civil War By Other Means . With it, I wrote about an either-or thinking seemingly  ingrained in the Confederate brain . When Black people were slaves, white people were free. When Black people were free, white people were slaves. Slavery wasn’t just the basis of the plantation economy. It was the basis of democracy for the well-mannered overlords of elite southern society. For them, without slavery – without  suffering  – civilization would collapse. Among the many obvious problems with this way of thinking is something less obvious. If you believe that what’s bad for Black people is good for white people, what do you have when they, through means internal and external, achieve ...

Oregon schools fire unvaccinated teachers: 'Doesn't make any sense' Story by Joshua Nelson • Oct 7 Parents have protested Bend-La Pine School District’s decision to fire Ensworth Elementary School teacher Kelly Lundy, La Pine Middle School teacher Zachary Webb, and Mountain View High teacher Mark Schulz for refusing to get vaccinated or fill out religious exemption forms. Another outlet reported that nearly 40 people were holding signs and showing support for the educators during an emergency public hearing. The school board voted 6-0 to fire Schulz, Webb, and Lundy. All three appeared on " Fox & Friends First " Friday to explain why they didn’t get the vaccine. "I didn't want to get the vaccine because of the safety and efficacy … And so now what that is and what the school district is a secular institution … to request me for a statement of my faith – Iwasn't going to use my fa...

A place for working class Whites to discuss the op thoughtfully. You Don’t Have to Be Southern to Be a Neo-Confederate Opinion by Ed Kilgore  • Oct 7 New  public-opinion findings  from the Public Religion Research Institute and E Pluribus Unum confirm a counterintuitive phenomenon that is becoming hard to ignore or deny: Affection for the insignia and monuments associated with the Confederate States of America is not at all confined to the southern states that once formed a seditious compact to defend slavery. As white (and especially rural) conservatives nationwide have begun to share stereotypically southern feelings of racial grievance, support for maintaining memorials to the Lost Cause of white supremacist laws and institutions has spread as well.  The Atlantic ’s David A. Graham succinctly  summarized  the takeaways: Where things get interesting is when the survey measures support for reforms, whether destruction of these markers or re...

This is what we need. Just stop trying Chinese people you deserve better! From a working class White.

A place for working class Whites to discuss the op thoughtfully. Chinese millennials have replaced 'lying flat' with simply 'letting it rot' — a darkly funny, laissez-faire rejection of competition and the work force mleighton@insider.com (Mara Leighton) - Oct 5 Young Chinese people are protesting unattainable life goals and hustle culture by "letting it rot." It's an evolution of 2021's "lying flat" trend, but with more nihilist overtones. The trend isn't about doing the bare minimum to get by, it's about openly leaning into "rot." If you remember the 2021 trend of Chinese millennials " lying flat " in protest of hyper-competition and in defense of rest and relaxation, you've been prepped for its cousin — the slightly darker trend of "letting it rot." "Let it rot," or  bailan  (摆烂) in Mandarin, is being used by disaffected young Chinese Gen Z-ers and millennials to describe the mindset of...
