The announcement came yesterday (Sept. 27). On June 22, 2019, Johnson and Killian assaulted Jarric Deshawn Carolina, a Black man, and his white friend in a parking lot near the Brickhouse Saloon bar. Court documents state the defendants admitted they attacked Carolina because of his race. This week, Johnson and Killian stood before District Judge Bernard Jones at the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma for  plea hearings . Slur-spewing man gives Hitler salute when confronted for flying Nazi flag at Oregon business center Raw Story - Sep 27 According  to KLCC, a man used racial slurs and gave Nazi salutes after being confronted for flying a swastika flag outside of a business center in Florence, Oregon. The confrontation happened when a local resident, Patrick Meade, noticed the man putting up the Nazi flag in place of the American flag, which he had draped over his shoulder after taking it down first. "'I asked him, ‘Excuse me, what do you think you’re doing?’ And he replied, ‘I’m putting up a Nazi flag. You got a problem with Nazis?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah I do.’ And then he called me an N-word lover, and I got really mad,'" said Meade. Chris Quintana, USA TODAY - Sep 27 When a for-profit university told its 2,000 students last week it will close in a matter of days, it blamed the Education Department for its decision.  Virginia-based Stratford University offered courses in business administration, culinary arts and nursing and was one of roughly two dozen schools approved to receive federal money by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools. The Education Department, however,  stripped ACICS of its power  to accredit universities in August because it didn't meet government standards. Because many for-profit colleges rely on federal aid to stay in business, losing access to that money can be a death sentence. Peña - Sep 16 Illinois  is passing a law that some would say will make history. Illinois is looking to be the first state in the United States to abolish cash bail. And the consequences of passing such a law have many believing the state could mirror the horror movie “ The Purge ”. In the film, citizens were given 24 hours to commit all the crimes they wanted. On January 1st of 2023 the ‘SAFE-T’ Act will commence in the state of Illinois. This act will get rid of the cash bail system in its entirety. The name SAFE-T is an acronym for ‘Safety, Accountability, Fairness, and Equity-Today’. Those that instated the act believe it will reduce arrests and limit those put away based on the crime.
